Hang Seng Stock Index The Hang Seng is Hong Kong's premier stock index. It is provided by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing in Hong Kong, and includes the forty-two largest (in terms of liquidity and capitalization) companies that are traded on the Hong Kong stock exchange. The Hang Seng is calculated in real time from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Hong Kong Time, using the prices of the forty-two individual stocks from the Hong Kong stock exchange. Performance Over the past ten years, the Hang Seng stock index has reached a low of 6660.42 (August 13th 1998) and an all time high of 31638.22 (October 30th 2007). ![]() The Hang Seng stock index has an average daily turnover of HKD72 billion, and the HSI futures market has an average daily volume of 89000 contracts. Derivatives The HSI futures and options markets are the main Hang Seng derivatives, and these are traded on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing electronic exchange from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Hong Kong Time. The HSI futures market is the most actively traded Hang Seng derivative, and is one of the preferred markets of Asian and European professional traders.
